The purpose of this study is to identify the types of leadership applied by coaches during the training process. To this end, the leadership styles used by coaches from various sports clubs in Ankara were examined. A total of eight volunteer coaches from different sports clubs in Ankara participated in the study. Among the volunteer coaches, three were engaged in team sports (basketball, football, volleyball), while five were coaching individual sports (archery, gymnastics, taekwondo, boxing, judo). All participating coaches held official coaching licenses granted by sports federations. The volunteer coaches were experts in their respective fields and had also served in national teams. In this research, a phenomenological design, one of the qualitative research methods, was employed. The study group was selected through convenience sampling, and data collection was conducted using a pre-developed semi-structured interview form. The form consisted of eight questions, and the responses were transcribed to generate concepts. These concepts were then grouped under broader themes and presented in table format in the findings section. As a result of the study, it was found that the contingency theory of leadership emerged as the most prominent leadership approach. Coaches predominantly preferred to adopt the contingency leadership theory during their training processes.
