This study examines the concepts of political trust and system justification, highlighting their significance for political stability and the functioning of democracy. While political trust refers to individuals’ belief in political institutions and leaders, system justification explains the tendency to perceive the existing order as fair and legitimate. The literature emphasizes that these two phenomena are mutually reinforcing: an increase in political trust strengthens perceptions of legitimacy, and legitimacy, in turn, reinforces trust. However, this cycle can be weakened by economic crises, political corruption, and the erosion of justice. Young individuals, in particular, represent a critical group in shaping the future implications of this process, given their sensitivity to democratic values and their orientation toward critical citizenship. In conclusion, the joint consideration of political trust and system justification is regarded as a fundamental necessity for preserving social peace and ensuring the sustainability of democratic values.
