      Abstract

The well-being of a society is directly related to investments in its education and the quality of education. Improving the physical conditions of educational institutions and learning environments is essential for enhancing the quality of education. Preschool education, in particular, represents a critical period in children's cognitive, emotional, and social development, making adequate and high-quality physical conditions in these institutions extremely important. Therefore, a detailed examination of the current physical conditions of preschool institutions worldwide and the identification of areas for improvement are necessary. This research aims to evaluate the physical standards of private preschool institutions in Istanbul, comparing them with relevant literature and considering child development characteristics. Using Maximum Diversity Sampling, a qualitative research method, the interior and exterior characteristics of four private preschool institutions were analyzed in detail. When the observed physical conditions were compared with relevant legislation and literature, it was concluded that the physical conditions of the institutions examined were close to the established standards.
