Abstract

The migration from rural areas causes significant rural population increase in cities each passing year. And one of the problems in countries like Turkey where urban population increases rapidly is the urban adaptation and urbanization level of this rural population migrating to the city. General view indicates a non-urbanized population living in the city and a spatial structure that this population creates.

In this study, data was collected with questionnaires applied in 26 different districts and neighborhoods of Erzurum, and inferences are made about the urban adaptation of the rural population migrating to the city and their urbanization level by interpreting these obtained data.  The interpretation of the obtained findings revealed interesting clusters in the subject of adaptation of the rural population, who migrated to and settled in Erzurum, to the city and urban life.
