Examining police practices, as part of the regulations, oriented towards preventing violence in Turkish football

Abstract
The main reason of this study is to show the relations of the ideas of the the police officers work and have teams at Super-First, The Second and The Third football Leagues, the levels of education, the application of current laws according to the in-service training situation on the issue of sport security, the prevention of the spectators aggressiveness and the relations among the views related with the reasons of the spectators’ aggressiveness. The universe of the search survey was Çevik Kuvvet Şube Müdürlüğü. The sampling was constituted by was constituted by 370 staffs, 200 staffs from İstanbul for the Super-First Leagues, 130 staffs from İzmir for The Second League, 40 staffs from Aksaray for The Third League. A study based on an Inquiry Method, whose practicability was tested before, about the case of preventing applications towards the violence in football, was carried out to the participants, these staffs. After applying the inquiry, the accounts gathered from the inquiry, were classified according to the variants on the issue of the subject matter. The data processed on a computer were rated by using anova, t-test and frequency distribution. An important difference among the opinions of the police staffs, working at the cities which have the Super-First, The second and The Third football Leagues about the application of current laws and the prevention of the spectators aggressiveness were determined according to the findings of the survey (p<0,05). On the other hand, it was also determined that there were also important differences among the opinions on the issue of sport security according to the in-service training they had in applying current laws, the prevention of spectators’ aggressiveness and the reasons of the spectators’ aggressiveness (p<0,05). The police staffs, joining the survey, charge some different people or associations as responsible for the violence in football. They classify them such as irresponsible spectators, cheer-leaders, the organizations of supporters, media and the club managers. As a result, the police staffs working on the subject matter department will be successful on the condition of removing the difficulties in using the current laws towards prevention of violence in football and moreover it was judged that in-service training about the issue related with the issue will affect efficiently the police applications.
