Didactic Contract and its reflection to education: the case of table of values

Abstract

In this study it is aimed to introduce the notion of didactic contract, which is firstly suggested by Brousseau and extended in later studies, to the Turkish Education System. The reflection of this notion to the education is going to be analyzed through the use of the table of values afterwards. The study consists of two main parts. In the first part the rise of the notion didactic contract, its extension and its reflection to the studies is going to be examined. In the second part the focus is going to be laid upon the items of the contract which are formed by the teacher candidates related to the table of values within the frame of this notion and the reasons of the formation of these items. In the first part document analyses method is used while in the following part qualitative analyses is employed. With this study it is aimed to present a different perspective to the studies done in mathematics education field in Turkey.
