The investigation of the reading attitudes of second grade students

Abstract

The aim of the study is to examine the reading attitudes of 6th, 7th and 8th level primary school students in respect to several variables using the “Reading Attitude Scale towards Primary School Second Grade Students” which is developed by Özbay and Uyar (2009). Study group consists of 508 students studying in the 6th, 7th and 8th levels of state primary schools in Niğde city centre. Thus, the reading attitudes of 6th, 7th and 8th level students in accordance with gender and school variables are intended to be defined. At the end of the study, the reading attitude levels of the second grade students are seen positive. It is concluded that the reading attitude score averages of second grade students show a significant difference with regard to genders, schools and classes at which they study.

Author Biography

Kamil İşeri

1966 yılında Niğde’de doğdu. İlk ve orta öğrenimini Niğde’de tamamladı. 1991 yılında Atatürk Üniversitesi Fen-Edebiyat Fakültesi Batı Dilleri ve Edebiyatları Bölümü’nü bitirdi. 1993 Yılında Niğde Üniversitesi Fen-Edebiyat Fakültesi’nde araştırma görevlisi olarak göreve başladı. 1996 yılında Marmara Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsü Fransız Dili Eğitimi Anabilim Dalında Bilim uzmanlığını, 2002 yılında Ankara Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsü Türkçenin Eğitimi ve Öğretimi Anabilim Dalında doktorasını tamamladı. 2003 yılında Niğde Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesi Türkçe Eğitimi Bölümünde öğretim üyesi (Yrd. Doç. Dr.) olarak göreve başladı. Bir dönem Türkçe öğretmek amacıyla yurtdışında bulundu. Yurdumuzda yayımlanan bilimsel dergilerde alanına ilişkin makaleleri yayımlandı. Ulusal ve uluslar arası bilimsel toplantılara katıldı. Halen Niğde Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesi Türkçe Eğitimi Bölümü Başkanlığı görevini yürütmektedir.
