Examining the relationship between task-and ego-oriented goals and life satisfaction (a study of people doing mountaineering sports)

The purpose of the study is to examine the relationship between task-and ego-oriented goals and life satisfaction in the people doing mountaineering sports. 85 sportsmen who do mountaineering sports and whose average of age is 25.15±6.37 years participated in the study. The goal orientations of the mountaineers were determined by means of “the Task and Ego Orientation in Sport Questionnaire Scale” and “Life Satisfaction Scale”. Descriptive statistics and the statistical techniques of correlation analyses were used to analyze the data.
The findings of the research showed that there is no significant correlation between task-oriented goals and life satisfaction (0,254; p>0,05). It was found out that there is no significant correlation between ego-oriented goals and life satisfaction (0,352; p>0,05).
The important findings supporting the goal orientation theories in achievement motivation were acquired in this research.
In conclusion, so many factors can affect the relationship between life satisfaction and task and ego orientation.
