Abstract

The regulations pertaining to transfer of the vocational school students to the related undergraduate programs with a graduate transfer exam applied in accordance with the code, announced in the Official Newspaper with number 23847 and dated October 15, 1999, concerning admission of the graduates of Vocational Schools and those with a two-year degree from the Open University were designed. So far some alterations have been made on this code and the related directives of application. Before this regulation made in 1999, graduate transfer to the engineering programs was possible. However it was not possible for the students of Open University who had two-year degrees to transfer to undergraduate program of architecture because of the difference between the education methods of architecture and other engineering programs. In this study the curricula of the two-year degree programs in vocational schools, graduates of which can transfer to the architecture programs, and also the concordance and relationship between them were analyzed. Moreover, the study aims at determining performance of the students admitted through graduate transfer exam to Selcuk University department of Architecture since the year 2000 and their problems during adjustment process and under-graduate studies period. As a result of these determinations some proposals concerning the adjustment process for architecture program and curricula of the two-year degree programs in vocational schools graduates of which can transfer to the architecture programs were made.
