The purpose of this study is to present the findings of the palaeopathological analysis of a skeletal sample from Çatak (Van). A total of 18 skeletons, 9 male, 7 female, and 2 adolescences were examined throughout study. These individuals are suffered from a variety of ailments including cribra orbitalia, and porotic hyperostosis, cranial fractures, degenerative joint diseases such as osteoarthritis of the knee joint and temporomandibular joint osteoarthritis. Porotic hyperostosis and cribra orbitalia has a consistently high frequency in all skeletons. Also, anemia (due to malaria) was observed. Other prevalent diseases in the skeletons are osteoarthritis of the knee joint, temporomandibular joint osteoarthritis and cranial fractures. The pattern of traumatic cranial injuries indicates that they were likely sustained as a result of accidents. The occurrence of osteoarthritis in the temporomandibular joint could be a result of consuming dry or hard food. According to the result of this study, Çatak skeletons expose to high stress (malaria) during growth and development (cribra orbitalia and porotic hyperostosis), low physical activity in the limbs and accidental injuries.
