Media, society and the symbolic elites as the source of news

Throughout the history mankind both effected to and was affected by the environment that surrounds him. Homo Sapiens approximately 30.000–50.000 years have been living on earth. However the first written documentary we have dates back to 6.000 years ago. Human history had three great revolutionary processes up to now; those are the inventions of writing, printing and electric. Communication provides a great heap forward manhood to make the improvement of it both as the cause and the effect. Information age can be defined as the production, searching and evaluation of the knowledge and serve this knowledge to the masses by means of media. The improvement of the societies can be possible by gaining the right and unbiased knowledge, thus media has the big responsibility.In media, news has two structures as thematic and schematic. Editors who are called “threshold keeper” constitutes the news’ schematic structure and those form the thematic structure of the news’ are the source of the news or the actors of the news. They are separated from one other into two as discourse elites and discourse fallen. The discourse fallers are only in media when they are offender or victim. On the other hand the powerful discourse elites draw the frame of the events that takes place in media and continue to maintain social control over the society. The symbolic elites, as Bourdieu calls them, that includes, academicians, authors, artists, directors and journalists collaborate with the powerful statue to maintain their luxuries life and for not to loose what they have got at hand. Hence this part serves for the maintenance of the reproduction of the present production affairs.
