An investigation of third graders’ self-esteem characteristics regarding some variables

Abstract

The aim of this study was to examine students’ self-esteem regarding some of the characteristics of friendship. This study was carried out with 532 students attended high schools at central district of Adana province. Data in this study were collected by “Coopersmith Self Esteem Inventory” and “Friendship Relation Questionnaire”. Frequency, One-way anova and independent sample t test were used to analyse the data. Results showed that there was no significant difference on students self esteem in terms of gender and the number of close friends, while their self esteem scores differed according to the status of having boy/girl friend, romantic relationship and parent intervention.
