Abstract

Aim: This research was carried out in order to develop a standard measurement tool special to culture assessing patient’ rights using attitudes.

Material&Methods: A methodological research was conducted to evaluate the validity and reability of the scale developed exclusively for the culture. The population of the research consisted of inpatients (352 persons) in State Hospital and Gynecology Birth and Child Diseases Hospital in …. province. The data were collected between the dates 10 May-30 June 2006. The participants were informed about the research and their verbal consent was taken. In addition, a written consent was taken from the hospitals. The data were evaluated frequency, percent, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, Pearson correlation coefficient analysis,  t test, Cronbach Alpha coefficient, Kaiser-Mayer-Olkin test, Barlett’s test of sphericity analysis and factor analysis.

Findings: A likert-type scale consisting of 35 items to evaluate the patient’ rights using attitude was developed in the light of literature information. The validity of content-scope was examined to determine the validity of scale and the number of items was reduced to 30 items. The validity structure of the scale was examined and the results of KMO analysis and that of Barlett’s test were found as 0,865 and 3456,199 respectively. Both the test results were found significant at the level of importance p=0,000. A factory analysis and total item point correlation was applied to the scale  and  was reduced 29 item-number and had seven subscales. Internal consistency application was carried out to determine the validity of the scale. Total item- point correlation was determined  between 0,21-0,60 and were found significant at the level of importance p=0,000. Cronbach Alpha coefficient was of found to be α=0,88. Also, in item analysis of scale of patient’s rights using attitude was made and item means point difference of down 27% and up 27% of groups  was evaluated via t test. Statistically, difference was  significant (P=.001 in 17th item,  P=000 in other items)

Conclusion: The Scale of patient’ rights using attitude is reliable and valid. The scale has seven subscales.
